Eric Simpson is more than an athletic trainer. He is a competent and caring guide who takes great passion in helping you meet your fitness goals. I have not lifted free weights in 20 years (since high school). Eric gave me the confidence I needed to step up my strength training and did it in a way that ensured my body stayed physiologically sound. He always focused on technique and empowered me to gain the musculoskeletal balance I had been seeking for years. As a physician, I greatly appreciate Eric’s evidence-based training approaches. Also, the man who I hate to love! Eric is an amazing coach and trainer. Every session we discuss what we’re going to do – and its always educational and different – and why. He builds on his experience and knowledge of me – both in terms of physical capabilities and goals – and really makes it challenging and enjoyable. Me? I’m 58, relatively healthy for a woman my age BUT predictably too low in muscle mass and bone loss is a reality I must face NOW to make a difference. My goals were to be physically stronger, more agile and challenge the weight. Eric tailors everything to my goals ++ He never lets me “cheat myself” as he says and at the risk of sounding overly girly, it makes my day when he tells me “he’s proud of me and I worked hard today,” nothing he says lightly. I leave every session with his overall check, (“any injuries? How do you feel?”) and a plan for the hours later when I may feel sore (as IF that’s even in question!) and when I’ll see him next. Not pushy, excessive or “speech-giving” in style but a health conscious, ex-cop family man that frankly, is a great fit for me. He has a plan, listens and stays fully engaged every time!
I have really enjoyed training with Eric! He is extremely professional, knowledgeable and encouraging while always keeping safety top of mind. Eric programs each workout to keep things interesting and challenging! I can always count on leaving our sessions feeling as if I have worked very hard and learned something new.
